Action to Azores Wildlife Tour ( 09 to 17 September 2017 )

Join us to a Wildlife Photo Tour to the tiny island of Santa Maria. The Azores archipelago is located in the heart of the Atlantic Ocean, 900 miles off the coast of Portugal, on the edge of the European continental shelf.
Teeming with marine life, the island of Santa Maria is one of the most interesting and diverse in the world.

Diving at this location means stunning visibility in summer season — over 30 metres — to find schools of amberjacks, resident mobulas, huge sting rays, groups of dolphins and, sometimes, whale sharks and the rare blue sharks of Azores.

Additional reef species will be observed such as groupers, snappers, moray eels, rays, invertebrates, and crustaceans.
When you add the possibility of finding sea turtles, mola mola, manta birostris and varied species of dolphins, this adventure
becomes a visual feast and a truly photographic opportunity that has not to be missed.

Rough programme
Our accommodation will be in Vila do Porto, in a hotel with swimming-pool and restaurant. The hotel and the diving centre are 2-3 km from the marina of the small
  village of Vila do Porto. We'll use a van for transfers to the village, so that happy hours and dinners in the cosy restaurants and pousadas will not be a problem at all.
Eight nights accommodation in
bed & breakfast service.
Our aims (plan A= weather permitting) are to enjoy five and half days of scuba diving with a chartered dinghy, as follow : one full-day special off-shore at Formigas and Dollarabat, looking for whatever these heavently spots are able to promise : pelagic fish, turtles, groupers, mantas and mobulas, luckily bait-balls with mackerels;
four and half days with two daily dives among Ambrosio divesite (special for mobulas) and normal no-ordinary dives (groupers, snappers, moray eels) , plus dives in the cave with sting-rays, diving at Maia dive spots, etc.
In the case of really good sea-conditions, we have the opportunity to do other full days of off-shore diving and snorkelling or free diving (with an extra cost to be shared among participants) instead to do normal "no-ordinary" dives.

If plan "A" could not be performed for any reason, we have a plan "B" , including excursions on land for visiting the more interesting natural and panoramic places, so that we will not be annoied.
